Two Easy Ways to Access AirDrop in iOS 11

AirDrop is a nifty feature baked into iOS that makes sharing files, images, notes, webpages, and more between Apple devices easier than ever.

It’s much more efficient than sending an email attachment because it negates the need for a separate app, email address, or any text at all. It’s also one of the quickest ways to send massive attachments, like HD video clips.

If you need to send a file to a nearby iOS or macOS user, AirDrop is the fastest and easiest way to do it.

There are two ways to access AirDrop in iOS. First: Make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on your device, as AirDrop requires both for data transmission.

Access AirDrop from Control Center

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen to display the Control Center.

  2. 3D Touch (hard press) on the networking icons.

  3. Tap on AirDrop.

  4. Now choose who you’d like to be able to receive files from. Choosing ‘Everyone’ will be the most efficient option. (Don’t worry, you’ll be able to decline an incoming AirDrop in the rare case that you’d receive one from an unknown sender).

Access AirDrop from Settings

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Tap General.

  3. Tap AirDrop.

  4. Here you’ll see three familiar options, which indicate who you’ll be able to receive AirDrops from. ‘Everyone’ is recommended.
